Generations in the Museum

The Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst has been addressing encounters between different generations in the museum since 2013. Here, a suitably broad understanding of the term "generations" is applied, which also explicitly refers to structures outside the family. At events linked to the exhibitions, people of different age groups shall meet on an equal footing in a manner that encourages togetherness between generations while promoting curiosity, tolerance and encounters.
In this context, the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst is a partner of GiM – Generations in the Museum, which is a Generations Academy project and thus also a Migros Culture Percentage project. Here, in addition to the education events at museums, symposia on this theme are organized, and new education formats are developed. Currently, another 30 museums in Switzerland are also addressing this theme. In the 2014 publication on this project – "Auf Augenhöhe" (On equal footing) – the individual museums' education formats are presented within a framework of specialist texts.
