Families

Family afternoons

The Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst opens its doors specially for families on two Sundays during each exhibition. The exhibitions are explored on short guided tours for young and old, and the art education studio is open to the whole family afterward. Taking the artworks in the exhibition as a starting point, everyone can get creative together. Coffee and snacks are provided. These afternoons are run by Cynthia Gavranic (art educator, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst).

Cost: normal museum admission fee for adults, 5 CHF for children
No registration required.
Ideal for children ages 3 to 12 (but toddlers and teenagers are welcome, too!).
You can find the current dates under Events.

Children's vernissages

During every exhibition opening at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, a special children's vernissage takes place in the art education studio. Children ages 3 and up can take their favorite works in the exhibition as a starting point, from which to get creative themselves during the official opening. Adults are also very welcome to attend.

Duration: the length of the respective preview

Vacation workshops

In cooperation with Pro Juventute (Ferienplausch) and the association Kulturvermittlung-ZH (Cool-Tur), the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst regularly offers workshops in the summer and fall vacation periods. Half-day, full-day or week-long programs full of experiences give children and youths an opportunity to develop creative work and projects of their own in the art education studio, on the basis of the exhibitions. Here, the imagination is let loose.

Art Detectives! Exhibition Mysteries for Clever Thinkers

Art Detectives! Exhibition Mysteries for Clever Thinkers is an art education programme at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, geared towards children aged from 8 to 12. For every exhibition, new fascinating mysteries are set up to bring about the joy of discovery, to encourage attentive observation and to generate a sense of investigative deduction. In a booklet of mysterious assignments, information about artists and artworks is also conveyed in a playful and interactive way (in German). At the front desk, the young detectives receive a backpack of suitable equipment for their investigations. Here, they can also obtain the solutions and a small reward at the end. Naturally, it is also possible to work in teams. We recommend that adults accompany younger children and read the mysteries aloud to them.
