"Third, Fourth and Fifth Spaces – Curatorial Practices in New Public and Social (Digital) Spaces"

08.11.2013, 18:30

(in English)

The symposium presents and discusses contemporary practices of reading, researching, publishing, and curating made possible by the Internet and socially operative technologies. It combines experimentation with new formats and attempts to make knowledge freely accessible. A particular focus is put on artistic and curatorial practices that propose and initiate time-based (historically situated) processes of negotiation between subjects, contexts, and webs of relationships.

The symposium is produced in collaboration between the Postgraduate Programme in Curating at the Institute for Cultural Studies in the Arts and the Department of Cultural Analysis, Zurich University of the Arts; Manifesta Journal, Amsterdam; as well as the University of Reading.

Conception: Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez (Manifesta Foundation; Manifesta Journal) and Dorothee Richter (Zurich University of the Arts; University of Reading; OnCurating.org)
