"Anagrammatic Spaces: Interiors in Contemporary Art"

"Kollektive Handlungsräume. Ein Blick auf die politischen Perspektiven neuer Gemeinschaften" – Lecture by Dr. Nina Möntmann

05.12.2013, 19:00

(in German)

In collaboration with the research project "Anagrammatic Spaces: Interiors in Contemporary Art" of the Institute of Art History at the University of Bern, the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst will hold a three-part series of events on issues around space and interiors in contemporary art in conjunction with the Collection on Display series of exhibitions of works from our holdings. Like the exhibitions, the research project explores designs, models, conceptualizations, and interpretations of interior spaces in contemporary art.

For some time, many artists and theorists have been addressing issues of coexistence, be it in a private or collective social environment. In so doing, they also refer to epochal changes taking place since 1989, such as the notion of a new Europe with its (geo)political structures, as well as globalized working conditions and social relationships.

Nina Möntmann is a curator and Professor of Art Theory and the History of Ideas at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
