Douglas Gordon (*1966, lives in Glasgow) will present a major installation of work at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Zürich. A group of large video projections transforms the museum's temporary exhibition hall into an intense visual and conceptual arena. By means of subtle intervention, Gordon appropriates existing film material which he alters very slightly and represents to the viewer as large scale projections.
The Museum für Gegenwartskunst Zürich will also show another group of works by the artist; wall texts that have been created over the last five years. Although these take the form of words on walls, quite often they have had a more socially active role; Gordon sent various texts by letter to selected names and addresses and often used other ‘collaborators’ to speak the texts over the telephone in crowded bars, late at night.
Gordon will also make a “Reading Room” in which different video tapes, books and catalogues that the artsit has chosen can be viewed.
