Obstacles refers to the impossibility of ever truly fulfilling a desire, be it political, existential, or aesthetic in nature. The question of the foreign, of the Other, is a continuity in the work of Mounir Fatmi, who was born 1970 in Morocco, and lives and works in Paris and Tangier. Fatmi reflects upon his proper position as an artist who feels alienated from the cultural context that surrounds him.
