Social divisions and radicalization can currently be observed in various parts of the world. Things that could not be said in public are gradually becoming socially acceptable. In their long-term project “Der Widerspruch” (“Contradiction”), the members of the collective “Neue Dringlichkeit” examine possible ways in which performance art can intervene when people have differences of opinion. As part of Koki Tanaka’s exhibition “Vulnerable Histories (A Road Movie),” they will hold talks, dialogues, and debates with visitors in which they will try to forge a new culture of conflict.

Founded in Zurich in 2010, the collective works in changing constellations to develop performances, festivals, discussion formats, and actions in public spaces. Its work has been shown at Gessnerallee, Zurich; ifa-Galerie, Stuttgart; the Fast Forward Festival; the Venice Architecture Biennale; and in Berlin, Hamburg, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, and São Paulo.
