Richard Jackson in conversation with Judith Welter, collection curator, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst

(free admission, in English)

Since the 1970s, American artist Richard Jackson (*1939 Sacramento, USA) has explored the dissolution of painting's boundaries and humorously commented on this genre's clichés, traditions and themes with his installations. For his painterly environments, Jackson replaces the brush by creating appreciably machine-like "instruments", which he uses for the (automated) production of paintings.

Discussing his installation The Laundry Room (2007–2014), Richard Jackson and Judith Welter will talk about painting, art history, humor, and conceptual excess. The Laundry Room is shown as part of Collection on Display for the first time at Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst.
